Is there a better way to spend a Sunday than taking a scenic drive to the coast and having a Roast Lunch on one of the best national parks in the country ?
Well if you live in North Devons capital town of Barnstaple your choices seem endless with so many great coastal towns just a half hours drive away, or you are staying in Ilfracombe and just want a change of scenery for the day.
The twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are just a stones throw away and we boast some of the best Sunday afternoon walks around.
The Cottage Inn is placed within the Lynbridge Valley, a short walk from Lynton or Barbrook we serve Sunday roast Lunch and are a destination pub due to our geographical positioning as the centre point for many great walks, If you are travelling from Barnstaple or Ilfracombe you have 3 options.
Park at The Cottage Inn and enjoy a Sunday Lunch without a walk
Park in Lynton or Lynmouth and plan one of so many potential walking routes, finishing at The Cottage for a roast.
Park in Barbrook and take the 1.1km riverside walk to the Cottage Inn and back.
1 - Park at The Cottage Inn
The Cottage Inn has its own Car park, the entrance is a little narrow and has to be approached from Lynton due to the angle of the turn but the beer lorry gets down so cars are always ok, if you are a nervous driver there are other spaces dotted around.
2 - Park In Lynton
Book your Sunday Lunch at The Cottage Inn, drive to Lynton or Lynmouth and park up, have a good old mooch about and take the Lynway Woodland walk to Lynbridge, make sure you allow plenty of time for a pre meal pint.

The Riverside walk is one of the best kept secrets on Exmoor, you will see waterfalls, wildlife and nature at its finest, what's more its just enough exercise to blow away the old cockles before lunch and just enough to see off a full belly on the way back to the car.
The Terrain is uneven in places so wear appropriate footwear and if you have access difficulties try to avoid, remember this is a recommendation of a nice Sunday idea only, do relevant research before leaving.
At The Cottage Inn a fine Roast lunch awaits, we believe the key to a good roast is starting with the best ingredients, local butcher Ivan Clarke supplies us with great roasting joints and much of our veg is from a local allotment, or Arthur David collects from the veg market daily.
Our Roasts are traditionally cooked from scratch in a traditional way, saving every bit of flavour from the cooking process, of course we always have a vegan option available also.
We are big fans of local Ale so be sure that you can grab a fresh pint of beer from the likes of Otter brewery or Exmoor Ales. while here.
Roast Lunches consist of, Meat, Roasties, Cauli Cheese, Yorkshire pudding and a selection of at least 3 Vegetables.
